The Art Fair took out some of the gallerists to this restaurant in Cologne, and so we tagged along.
It was a very traditional german place, with big long tables, antlers on the wall, german food (lots of meat, Marcus ate some horse, the vegatarian at the table got mocked by the waiters), but the best part was the beer service.
The beers were small, about 20c, but the service was amazing. The waiters had this circular beer carring devices, think old fashioned milk men, and they would hold about 15 of these beers on them. They would walk around and slam down a fresh beer in front of you if your current beer was less than half full. I'm tlaking 49% full, you get a fresh one sitting on deck. With the long tables they would just walk behind the people and slam down beers one at after another in a rapid fashion. Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, everyone has new beers. It was beautiful.
